Ukraine is a member of European Council. It is going to be a part of EU (European union) in 2007.
It is sovereign state in North-Eastern Europe. It was the part of USSR till 1991.It's populations 60 million peoples. The capital city is Kyiv. Here are four seasons. The average temperature is -7 c in January and +23c in June.
The main religions are Christianity and Islam. Ukraine is an industrial and agricultural state. Major industries are Coal, Electric Power, Ferrous and Nonferrous metals, Machinery & Transport equipments, Food processing (especially sugar), Metallurgical, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace and chemical & Refining industries. Major agricultural products are Grain, Sugar beet, Sunflower Seeds, Vegetables, Beef, Milk, Industrial crops and stockbreeding. Major trading partners are Germany, Turkey, Poland, Czech Republic, Belarus, US and Italy.
In Ukraine are 997 educational Institutions, among which are 130 universities, 63 academies, 137 institutes, 169 colleges, 301 technical schools and 197 trade schools owned by Government. The rate of growth of the number of students in Ukraine is one of the highest in the world. Nowadays there are 2,3 millions of students in Ukraine (it is 400 students per 10 thousands of population of Ukraine).
International Students
Almost 315 Ukrainian higher educational institutions teach international students. At the present time there are 20000 international students from more than 100 countries who study in the country. . There are students from such developed countries as Germany, the U.S.A. and Sweden, which are connected with the quite high quality level of education combined with very low price. Remarkable is the facts that in medical institutions study 10000 international students from approximately 75 countries. This is 50% from the total number of international students in Ukraine.
